Many people think that the confusion about which filters work best for your pool. There is no simple answer to that question, but the more you understand about swimming pool filters best decision you can make.

There are three main types of pool filters are sand, cartridge, or diatomaceous earth. Actually, none of the three do a good job of filtering your pool, but there are advantages and disadvantages of each. Let's see what they are.

Sand filters – it is very simple filters that use a layer of sand that the pool water is pumped through to clean and filter water impurities. Dirty water goes in one side and the other comes out clean side of the filter. Finally, the filter is well connected and must be washed to remove debris. Often this has to be done every two weeks or less.

Filters Cartridge – these are perhaps the easiest to understand and use. They work the same way that an oil filter for your car engine. The dirty water goes into the filter, passes through the filter material, deposits the excess material and then goes back to the pool. Some cartridges must have their filter material replaced every few weeks or less, and can be cleaned only once or twice a season and then reused.

Diatomaceous earth – this filter is considered the best water polisher of the three filters mentioned. The diatoms can filter out small debris as small as 5 microns from the water, making it an excellent cleaner. Similar to filter sand, diatomaceous earth filter should be washed every so often when the pressure rises in the filter. The old diatomaceous earth is washed away, and the new earth is applied for you to filter through the pool skimmer.

So what is the best pool filter for you? So all depends on several factors. What is most important to you? If you want low maintenance of a pool filter, filter cartridge is what you should go for. If you want an absolutely reliable and filter length, then the sand filter can be your best option. If, however, have the cleanest water possible is a priority for you, then the filter diatomaceous earth simply can not be beat. And keep in mind that you can add diatomaceous earth, both the sand filter, cartridge filter to improve its ability to water purification, without causing problems in the process too.
